Photographer Loves Math, Graphs Her Images

Here are some of the pictures the photographer named Nikki Graziano have captured. Graziano, is a math and photography student at Rochester Institute of Technology, she overlays graphs and their corresponding equations onto her carefully composed photos.

“I wanted to create something that could communicate how awesome math is, to everyone,” she says.

Graziano doesn’t go out looking for a specific function but lets one find her instead. Once she’s got an image she likes, Graziano whips up the numbers and tweaks the function until the graph it describes aligns perfectly with the photograph. See more of her Found Functions series at Nikkigraziano.com.

Tim Palmer(producer) about Ville’s drinking problem.
“He was too inebriated to record. I told Ville that I had to be honest, and that I felt he would sing the song better if he was not so drunk. Instead of fighting, he just apologized and told me that he had been going through a really tough time. I tried to encourage him to talk about it, as he seemed really sad and was close to tears. He told me how life had become a struggle, but I was still not aware of how extreme his feelings were. I learned that he had been feeling low for many years now. He was needing at least three beers to just leave the house, and was really not eating well at all. He was drinking very heavily and just smoking all day. It all became extremely serious when I learned from Ville that he had been waking up and feeling like he didn’t want to carry on with his life. He told me that his wrists felt like they were burning.”

But then you go on Tumblr, and you see something different. You see girls buying clothes, cutting their hair, taking laxatives, starving themselves, doing anything to make themselves look thinner. They base their self-worth on a NUMBER projected on a man-made scale. And to be honest with you, it breaks my heart. Because I know that you CAN eat without feeling guilty, you CAN eat fattening food without punishing yourself afterwards. What the scale says is NOT the most important thing. Being thin is NOT more important than being healthy. Being thin and not eating are NOT signs of true will power and success. Screw what all these pro-ana blogs tell you. You don’t have to be thin to be attractive. You are perfectly okay just the way you are.
